“You will not find a better coach or instructor than Adam LaClair. It took me a mere five minutes after meeting him to realize that this guy was for real. Having spent most of my youth competing in wrestling and boxing, I’ve had my fair share of coaches, and Adam tops them all. In a world of self inflated martial artists who all believe their system to be “law,” Adam is one of those unique individuals who will constantly ask “why?” and continue to improve and modify his approach. His methods are time-tested through competition and realistic training, and Adam has trained with some of the greatest instructors in the world, both in Jiu-Jitsu and Reality Based Self Defense. Adam’s “Combat Jiu-Jitsu” is on another level, and I would defy anyone to propose a more complete system as a foundation for mixed martial arts or self protection. Adam’s approach to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is the tightest and most efficient method I have seen, and its effectiveness is well documented in grappling competitions. I would recommend Adam as an instructor for anyone. Whether your goal is competition, self-defense, or a fun hobby, I guarantee you will not be disappointed.”

“There couldn’t be enough to say about training with Adam LaClair.  Adam’s BJJ is top-notch, which comes from his high level of experience and understanding.  If you want to learn to perfect techniques and utilize leverage, body mechanics, and momentum, then Adam is your man.  His instruction can be as detailed as necessary to keep you learning, but not overwhelmed.  He definitely knows how to teach to his audience.  I’ve seen him start from the ground up with newcomers, and still have a way to keep the more-experienced learning and having fun.  It has been a pleasure for me to train with an instructor that does not hold back techniques from you, and also is willing to discuss the techniques and theory of Jiu-Jitsu.  I have not met another instructor so inviting to questions and motivated to teach.  Training with such a qualified, effective, and honest instructor as Adam LaClair has been a blessing for my Jiu-Jitsu career, and I recommend him without reservation.”

“Whether you are new to martial arts or looking for something new and exciting to add to your routine, The LaClair Academy of Martial Arts is where to find it. It has been a real pleasure learning Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu with Mr. LaClair. He has taught me more in one month than I thought was possible. Mr. LaClair is as precise as he is methodical in his instruction and his ability to gauge his students is phenomenal. I think one of Mr. LaClairs best attributes is that he is a real human being who understands and shares with his students, not only making them better martial artists but better people. If your looking to learn martial arts for fun, self-defense, or competition then look no further!”

“I have trained under many Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu instructors and from my experience, Adam LaClair is one of the best.  Nowhere else will you find the one-on-one instruction that Adam has to offer.  Many Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu gyms today are so crowded due to the growing popularity of the sport and this can seriously hinder the rate rate at which you learn.  Adam makes sure that everybody learns, regardless of skill level.  Private lessons from other qualified instructors can cost over a hundred dollars per hour.  This same kind of individual instruction can be seen in Adam’s regular classes!  Another thing that I like about Adam’s classes is how he teaches attribute based Jiu-Jitsu.  He takes into consideration your size and build when he teaches!  This helped my training greatly because I was not flexible enough to learn many of the other moves that other instructors were showing me.  Most instructors just teach, but at Adam’s gym you will actualy get to grapple with Adam too.  Adam LaClair just has a way of breaking down the mechanics of moves in order for you to actually understand them and not just memorize them.  Since I have moved out of the Southern Tier and into a new Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu gym, my training with Adam can clearly be seen in how much I have improved.  I am competing in an upcoming tournament and I feel confident in my abilities because of Adam Laclair and I can not thank him enough for that.”

“I have studied and taught various martial arts and self-defense styles since 1972. Since that time I have seen many instructors and their styles over the years, and I would unhesitatingly say that Adam LaClair is one of the best I have had the pleasure to study with. His relaxed and humorous demeanor belies the fact that he is an highly accomplished and extensively well trained teacher. I am a former Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) and Strength and Conditioning Coach (CSCS) with an interest in nutrition, and Adam’s depth of knowledge, not only in the grappling and striking arts, continuously surprises me. His methodology is sound, his instruction is adaptable and thorough enough from anyone at the very beginner levels to national competitors, and his willingness to do whatever the student needs to fulfill their goals is exemplary. Anyone lucky enough to be able to train with Adam will find a rare gem amongst the pervasive mediocrity, commercialized chain schools, and self-proclaimed experts out there. He is the real deal!”
